Sudan Demands End to Foreign Meddling, RSF Disarmament at UN
“Foreign interference must end, and the terrorist militia (RSF) must be dismantled and disarmed to achieve stability in the country,” Foreign Minister Mohieddin Salem said in a speech at the body's 81st session in New York.
Salem also accused Washington of blocking a planned appearance by Sovereignty Council Chairman Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, who was due to address the assembly Monday. The US "prevented this by not issuing him an entry visa," Salem said. He called for an investigation into the refusal to let al-Burhan take part.
The appeals come as Sudan's war between the army and the RSF, which began in April 2023, grinds on. According to UN and international estimates, the conflict has killed tens of thousands of people and displaced around 13 million.
