Sudan: January to December 2025 Facts and Figures

The ICRC’s objective was to address their urgent humanitarian needs, help reduce the risks they face, and preserve their dignity. Its work included reuniting separated family members, searching for missing persons, and supporting the respectful and dignified management of human remains to prevent people from going unaccounted for. The ICRC also worked to restore essential services such as water and health facilities, and provided emergency assistance to conflict-affected individuals and communities throughout Sudan under its country-wide operational approach.

Recognizing that the crisis in Sudan is fundamentally a protection crisis, the ICRC engaged with all actors involved in the hostilities to promote respect for international humanitarian law (IHL) and to urge measures aimed at reducing harm to civilians, civilian infrastructure, and essential services. 

Meanwhile, the ICRC advocated for safe and unimpeded humanitarian access. Ensuring sufficient humanitarian space so aid organizations can operate safely, independently, and without interference is essential to reaching people in need in a secure and sustained manner. 

While the humanitarian needs remain immense, each intervention is a vital step toward alleviating suffering and preserving the dignity of those affected by the conflict.
