Erdogan, Iraqi PM Discuss Trade, Counterterrorism Cooperation

(MENAFN) President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a phone call Friday with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani to discuss bilateral relations as well as regional and global developments, according to Türkiye’s Communications Directorate.

During the conversation, Erdoğan said Ankara would continue taking steps to strengthen ties with Iraq across multiple sectors, with particular emphasis on expanding trade relations.

He also underscored the importance of deepening cooperation in counterterrorism efforts, noting that enhanced coordination in combating terrorist threats would serve the security interests of both countries.

The call reflects ongoing efforts by Ankara and Baghdad to consolidate economic engagement while addressing shared security concerns in the region.
